Beach Clean and Day Out in Whitby
|Saturday 25th April 2020, 10:00 am||Whitby||From FREE|
THIS EVENT IS FREE. HOWEVER, YOU MUST BOOK IN ADVANCE!
Join your Union for a day at the seaside! GIAG has teamed up with HUSSO Forces of Nature Project to empower our students to actively make a change and help protect our environment. It is necessary to keep our beaches clean if we hope to keep our oceans clean. When the tides rise, they collect items on the beach and take the items out when the water lowers - animals do not know that a shiny sweet wrapper is not meant to be eaten and can easily be mistaken as a fish or a piece of kelp.
We'll be spending the morning ensuring our beach area is free from litter. After which we'll have free time to eat so you can bring a pack up or pop and get some fish and chips and then you'll have some free time to enjoy the beach, go play in the amusements, enjoy a doughnut, buy some fudge, explore the land of Dracula and cobbled streets etc! We'll bring all of the equipment needed to take part in the clean, just ensure you bring a drink, money for lunch or bring a pack up and clothing for all weathers!
All equipment will be provided to take part including grabs, bags and gloves. Interested in joining a volunteering opportunity like the Forces of Nature Project? or want to find out more about what other husso opportunities are out there? Take a look here. There are also other external volunteering opportunities which you can view here.

WHO FUNDS GIAG EVENTS?
The cost of this trip is subsidised by the students' union by up to 50% using any profits from our commercial offering, so every time you shop in Spar, buy a coffee, pizza or sandwich from EATS or SANC or visit Asylum you are supporting the Give it a Go programme of events. We are a not for profit organisation re-investing all of our profit into services.
