Supporting Student Wellbeing

Approx. 4.5 hours to complete in your own time between 4th-11th May.


This course will introduce you to having good and helpful conversations around mental health, as well as knowing how to support a student and when to pass on responsibility.

This training is aimed at students and this course has been made possible through a partnership with HUSU and Student Services.

The course is asynchronous, which means that you can complete it at a time to suit you between 4th-11th May.



·       Increase your knowledge and understanding of emotional wellbeing, mental distress, mental health problems and mental illness.

·       Explore the mental health continuum. 

·       Identify the risk and protective factors that can lead to poor emotional wellbeing and mental health. 

·       Consider your own wellbeing and create a Mind Plan to support or improve your wellbeing.

Day 1 should take between 60 to 90 mins to complete. 

DAY 2 

·       Know what's within the normal range and when signs might make you concerned.

·       Know when a swift response is required and know who to contact.

·       Understand the stress response and how stress manifests in the mind and body.

·       Explore different ways that people can deal with stress to increasing our wellbeing.

Day 2 should take between 60 to 90 mins to complete.


DAY 3 

·       Increase your confidence and skills needed to start a conversation with someone who is experiencing difficulties.

·       Know what support is available to sign post to.

·       Consider the limits of confidentiality and how to maintain your personal boundaries when supporting a friend.

Day 3 should take between 60 to 90 mins to complete.



Tickets for this training course will go on sale on Friday 9th April at 9am until they sell out or on Friday 30th April at 2pm. Please book your place for this event online through our website.
