Force of Nature Seaside Litter Pick Taster Session

Date Venue Price
Saturday 5th June 2021, 12:00 pm From FREE

Join your Union for a day an afternoon at the seaside! GIAG has teamed up with Student-led Volunteering group Forces of Nature Project to empower our students to actively make a change and help protect our environment. It is necessary to keep our beaches clean if we hope to keep our oceans clean. When the tides rise, they collect items on the beach and take the items out when the water lowers - animals do not know that a shiny sweet wrapper is not meant to be eaten and can easily be mistaken as a fish or a piece of kelp.

We'll be spending the afternoon at Hornsea ensuring our beach area is free from litter. During the afternoon we'll have free time to eat so you can bring a packed lunch or pop and get some fish and chips! We'll be providing transport and will bring all of the equipment needed to take part in the clean, just ensure you bring a drink, money for lunch or bring a packed lunch and clothing for all weathers!

All equipment will be provided to take part including grabs, bags and gloves. Interested in joining a volunteering opportunity like the Forces of Nature Project? or want to find out more about what other Student-led Volunteer opportunities are out there? Check out our groups on the HUSU website: https://hulluniunion.com/join-in/volunteering

The event is subject to Government guidance and may be delayed or cancelled as a result of any changes. You will be informed of the Covid-19 procedures put in place for the event via your student email address beforehand.

Tickets for this event will be on sale from Tuesday 6th April until they sell out or Tuesday 1st June at 12pm. Please book your place for this event online in advance. No one will be allowed to turn up at the event without a ticket due to social distancing regulations.

Your Union endeavours to make all activities accessible to all wherever possible. However, please contact Elizabeth Middleton, Societies and Give It A Go Co-ordinator, on 01482 466297 or [email protected] if you have any specific access requirements or questions about access to this event.

We will need to contact you by email with details of this event. When booking please ensure that you have set your preference with the University to receive emails. Hull University Union cannot be held responsible for any missed communication if we cannot email you with organisational details.

The cost of this trip is subsidised by the students' union by up to 50% using any profits from our commercial offering, so every time you shop in Spar, buy a coffee, pizza or sandwich from EATS or SANC or visit Asylum you are supporting the Give it a Go programme of events. We are a not for profit organisation re-investing all of our profit into services.
