General FAQs around COVID-19

We understand that this might be a distressing time for our members and you may have a lot of questions. We hope the below FAQ document will provide some clarity regarding the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

 

Is Student Central open?

Student Central is currently open but to vacation hours (8am - 6pm, Monday - Friday) until further notice.

 

Is SPAR still open?

SPAR will now be open from 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. Service will be self-service only and there will be limited kiosk services available. Also, to minimise hand-to-hand contact and help stop the potential spread of the virus from notes or coins, our tills will also be going cashless from Thursday 19 March.

 

Is Sanc still open?

Sanc will now be open from 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. It will be app service only. Search ‘Huungry?’ on your app store now. 

 

Are Eats and Eats Italia open?

No - Eats and Eats Italia will be closed until further notice.

 

Can I still use cash in Student Central?

No - to minimise hand-to-hand contact and help stop the potential spread of the virus from notes or coins, our tills will also be going cashless from Thursday 19 March.

 

Will I get a refund for my End of Year Ball ticket?

We are currently issuing automatic refunds through our ticket partner, Fixr. Please be assured you will be refunded and you should receive your refund within 10 working days from today (Wednesday 18 March).

 

I’ve got tickets for an event in Asylum - what do I do?

If you’ve bought a ticket for an external event at Asylum (an event not organised by Hull University Union), you need to be in touch with the ticket provider for further information.

 

Is the Advice Centre open?

We are limiting any non-essential face-to-face contact. However, the Advice Centre will continue to support students and are looking to transition their services online. Please visit hulluniunion.com/support/advice-centre for more info.

 

Are the President Team still operating office hours?

All non-essential face-to-face contact has been limited. We will, however, be active on our social media platforms and will still be working to represent you. We can also be contacted over email or arrange a telephone call. Contacts can be found below.

 

Do I need to register with a GP?

Yes.

It would appear the NHS is coming across EU citizens who have come over for a short period are seeking GP registration. People are being advised to do the following. 

  • Register with your local GP - to avoid pressure on one surgery.

  • You can find your local GP via the NHS Choices website - Find GP - Enter your postcode, which will bring up your local  GP.

  • You can register with some GPs online, others may require you to download a form and send back to the GP. The instructions are on the website.

 

Will the Student President Team still represent me? 

The Student President Team is still working closely with the University on their ongoing projects. 

 

How can I contact the Student President Team?

All non-essential face-to-face contact has been limited. The best way to contact the Student President Team is via social media or email.
