Dear Students,

In light of recent and ongoing events, we wanted to give all our members an update on the future of our campus.

Firstly, don’t worry about what you may have heard – Scarborough campus is not going to close. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Pistorious, has spoken to Scarborough campus staff today explaining that the University is reviewing the offer that it has on this campus. They are carefully looking at the courses and programmes currently offered here, and finding out how best to cater for the Scarborough student of the future.

The most important message is that this isn’t going to affect your time here – we have a promise from the University to honour its commitment to students studying now and those enrolling in 2014.

Don’t forget that you lead us! Last semester we asked for your views on your experiences of Scarborough and the future of the campus. From these views we compiled a report, which we personally presented to the Vice Chancellor. It detailed your recommendations and expectations for improving campus life. The Vice Chancellor has given his personal support to the key demands of the report – for example, by extending opening hours of University services, such as the Keith Donaldson Library and Calvino’s.

So what now? At HUU our top priorities are:

  • That the University honours its commitment to Scarborough campus
  • That we see improvements in the services and facilities that the campus offers you
  • That we make sure that students’ views are represented as the University considers the options of the future of the campus"

What we want from you is to hear more of your ideas, views, and concerns so that we can vocalise them and act on your behalf. Please fill in this short survey or email Tom, your VP Scarborough, directly.
