President team reform 2022-23

Further to our announcement in the Elections notice blog on 9th March 2021 which can be found here.  The Board of Trustees have taken the decision to reduce the President team from five to four Elected Officers from the academic year 2022-23.

The new roles will be:

President of Union Development

President of Education

President of Inclusivity and Diversity

President of Opportunities

The most significant change is the removal of the Presidents of Activities and Sports to be replaced with a single role of President of Opportunities. Work is ongoing to amend the Standing Order for this role to ensure that the role represents all Student groups going forward.

The President of the Students Union will be replaced with the President of Union Development which is in keeping with the revisions made to the Zone in recent years and in line with the motion agreed at Union Council in March 2018 to remove the Vice-Presidents which removed the hierarchy within the team.

The next steps will be to complete the Standing Orders for the two newly titled roles and to review the Zones and the Volunteer Part-Time Officer/Student Representative roles. This work will be led by the President team and will include consultation with the current and future Zone members. The review will be taken to Union Council at the start of the Academic year 2021-22.

Further consultations with our members and announcements will be made as we progress through this work. In the coming months.
