Launch of Safe Campus Card

August 30, 2019

Two of your Student Presidents have created a Safe Campus Card, a contact card which will be available for students at the start of the academic year.

The Safe Campus Card is a contact card. It provides phone numbers and contact details of a wide range of charities, organisations and services that can help students, should they need it.

The cards are business card size, designed to be easily storable and accessible, and made from 100% recycled card.

It includes contact details of the following: Hull University Union, University of Hull Services, Emergency and Non-Emergency Services, EY Busline and Campus Security. The mental health services provided include the NHS Response Service, Samaritans and Let’s Talk.

Abi, President of Inclusivity and Diversity, and Isobel, President of the Students’ Union, said:

“By providing Safe Campus Cards, we hope to encourage a cultural shift amongst the student population. We want students to feel empowered and that they’re able to exercise informed choices and report incidents, should they need or want to.

The cards are business card size, which is the perfect size to keep on your person at all times. They can be stored in a purse/wallet, in the back of a phone case or in a lanyard - so they’re easily accessible if ever needed. The card could also be displayed in student accommodation, on a fridge or notice board for example. We’re also thrilled that they’re made of 100% recycled card.

We have worked on this campaign collaboratively with our Campaigns and Democracy Coordinator and Marketing Team, who have helped bring our idea to life.
