Expand the Ask Angela idea
Submitted by NIAMH T.

The metropolitan police are introducing an idea in clubs where if someone is on a date and they are uncomfortable or it doesn't feel right people or just in an uncomfortable situation they can go to the bar and ask for Angela and the bar staff will find a discrete way to get you out of the situation. Hull are looking at implementing this here however I feel that this is very much targeted to women and maybe having a name that men could ask for may be useful because it is not only women who experience sexual violence and abuse.

18/05/2018 - **UPDATE**
Policy and processes for this initiative have now been completed and approved by HUU and UoH and I am SO excited to announce the scheme will be fully launched on WEDNESDAY 23RD MAY at the Final TOWER of the year, and will be in place for students at the EOYB 2018.

29/03/2018 - **UPDATE**
I completely agree that anybody can be the victim of sexual assault and harassment and as a result the Ask for Angela idea will be branded in a gender neutral way as adding another name could result in confusion among both staff and students and potentially reduce the effectiveness of the scheme and the safety of those needing to use it. We are planning on launching the Ask for Angela idea really soon

27/03/2018 - **UPDATE**
I am currently looking into how we can put this idea in place and market it to students under the cNOsent campaign. When we've established this I will update again. If you have any thoughts please don't hesitate to get in touch at [email protected]
