A lot of students find it difficult to make their loans cover all things that we need. Recent findings show that almost half the girls in Yorkshire and the Humberside struggle to be able to afford sanitary products, and have had to use makeshift sanitary wear. I think it's important that we help students and young women get access to the sanitary items they need by having free sanitary packs available in the student union, where they can pick up some free products discreetly if stuck.
Also, condoms should be free and available in the student union also. Some students can't afford the extra expense for contraception, but it's important students have access to it as a means of protection not only for reducing the chances of getting pregnant, but also to reduce the likelihood of contracting STIs.
