Student Support

LGBT+ Students’ Support Group

Are you an LGBT+ student looking to connect with other LGBT+ students in a safe space? The LGBT+ support group is an inclusive group, run for and by LGBT+ students at Hull University. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch with Beth, the LGBT+ students’ representative at or [email protected]

Due to the current situation, the support group currently takes place online on discord, if you would like to join, please email the LGBT+ representative for a link.

Please note that this group is only for students who identify as LGBT+, as this support group is about lived experience of being LGBT+. Although allies are greatly appreciated in general, we would encourage them to use other platforms to support the LGBT+ community.

If you are not LGBT+, there are still plenty of ways that you can campaign with LGBT+ students and we hope to have events in the future where allies can be involved. You can get in touch with Beth and find out other ways that you can support LGBT+ students.

Trans+ Students’ Support Group

Are you a student who is part of a gender minority, such as transgender, non-binary, intersex or other gender non-conforming? Are you looking to connect with other students who have similar experiences to you in a safe space? The Trans+ support group is an inclusive group, run for and by specifically transgender, and other gender minority students. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch with the Trans+ students’ representative at [email protected]

This group prides itself on being a mutually supportive safe space, and therefore the Trans+ students’ representative would like to have contact with a student who wants to join to find out a bit more about why they would like to join.

Please note that this group is only for students who identify as being part of a gender minority, as this support group is about the lived experience. Allies are encouraged to use other platforms to support the trans+ community.

If you do not identify as part of this group (cis-gender), there are still plenty of ways that you can campaign with trans and non-binary, and other gender minority students. You can get in touch with the Trans students’ representative and find out other ways that you can support transgender and non-binary and other gender-minority students.
