With over 100,000 visitors a year, Bempton Cliffs is a very busy reserve. We aim to deliver first class customer care at all times, as well as looking for someone to provide a warm welcome to all our visitors, providing them with the information they need to make the most of their visit. We need you to be able to enthuse people about wildlife and the RSPB, and actively encourage non-members to join. Other duties include answering telephone enquiries and promoting events/activities.

What kind of support/supervision will you receive?

All training will be provided.

  • have an infectious enthusiasm for nature and its conservation

  • willingness to learn and use basic sales techniques

  • be confident in dealing with tricky situations

  • excellent phone manner

  • knowledge of some RSPB work and a familiarity with Bempton Cliffs (desirable)

  • experience of working in a sales oriented background

  • enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation 

  • the ability to inspire visitors to give nature a home where they live

  • an awareness of health and safety

  • confident in encouraging membership

Availability

Minimum requirement is flexible, but from 5-7 hours per week.

Do you want to help disadvantaged kids?? Want to get into teaching?? Hull Childrens University are looking for positive enthusiastic volunteers to become a "BUDDY" for a small group of three or four children and supporting them on some fantastic experience trips helping them bring learning to life.



There are lots of trips to choose from and you can dip in and out with no specific obligation to attend all trips/outings.



This is not really a task but a wonderful opportunity to have some fun and help children have fun whilst learning. 

Location

All over!! There are lots of activities going on in HULL such as museum visits and business visits as well as fantastic trips to LONDON where they get to see houses of parliament, get up close to 10 downing street and see the palace with a trip on the london eye. or "NIGHT IN THE MUSEUM" where children stay over night in Londons biggest museum and sleep with the dinosaurs!!



If that doesnt wow you then try "KIP ON A SHIP" HMS Belfast becomes their bed for the night how cool is that and all the time the children are gaining valuable learning experiences with you as their mentor.

Training is provided and DBS checks are completed as you start

You will probably learn as much as the children on these wonderful trips and will benefit them if you have a positive outlook and happy personality

Availability

We deliver an average of 3 modules per week so there are always plenty of experiences for mentors to take part in. there is NO set amount of activities you must attend you can take part in them once a month or once a year acting as a positive role model that so many of these  children need.

  • Understanding and being able to explain Guide Dogs’ campaigns to members of the public

  • Distributing information on Guide Dogs’ campaigns, either at venues or at information stands. Recording the details of people who wish to be kept informed in future

  • Encouraging guide dog owners, volunteers, members of the public and other supporters to support campaigns, with guidance from Guide Dogs staff. This could include responding to consultations or writing to or meeting with local media, councillors, MPs or MSPs

  • Seeking out local stories that could be used to provide examples for the reason behind the campaign, which can then be used in the media

  • Promoting Guide Dogs campaigns  within the local community

  • Passing enquiries onto Guide Dogs staff where appropriate

  • Attending campaign group meetings

  • Using social media i.e. Facebook and Twitter to gain support and awareness from the general public.

  • Attending (and recruiting for) campaigning events, such as marches, petition days
